Tasmania's Biggest Crane on Redevelopment

The first of two Jaso J438PA luffing cranes that will help build K-Block, can reach a height of around 120 metres and has the capacity to lift up to 32 tonnes.

The arrival of the crane signals yet another milestone on Tasmania’s largest ever health infrastructure project.

Demolition works were successfully completed safely earlier this year with minimal disruption to the hospital.

Works on site are progressing steadily with pilings and structural site retaining works continuing.

The final concrete pour for K-Block’s ground floor slab is scheduled for completion by the New Year as previously forecast.

These are massive achievements after the project overcame significant difficulties last year with the presence of greater than anticipated asbestos in hospital refurbishments and the defective modules.

National supplier, Titan Cranes and Rigging Pty Ltd, will provide, operate, and maintain the two tower cranes for the duration of the K-Block construction at a cost of $6.4 million.

.The second crane is scheduled for assembly during September 2017.
