Fairbrother Excellence on Redevelopment

Project Director, Ben Moloney, congratulated RHH Redevelopment sub-contractor, Fairbrother, winner of construction excellence at the Master Builders Tasmania 2017 Awards on Saturday night.

Mr Moloney said that Fairbrother won the prestigious Commercial Builder of the Year Award and the Renovation/Fitout Over $1 Million category for refurbishment works on the RHH Redevelopment project.

“Fairbrother successfully delivered quality outcomes for patients and staff of the Royal Hobart Hospital across a number of projects,” Mr Moloney said.

Mr Moloney said the winning submission included the construction of inpatient oncology, iodine tanks and a new orthopaedics area.

“The new areas constructed provide a contemporary space for patients with features such as more single rooms, providing greater patient privacy, improved space and additional bed capacity,” Mr Moloney said.

The works were part of RHH Redevelopment’s $50 million capital investment at the RHH completed last year.

“This recognition is a significant achievement on many levels. Fitouts were completed in ageing buildings, managing more than anticipated latent conditions.

“Fairbrother, along with the Managing Contractor, worked closely with the RHH Redevelopment and the hospital to minimise the unavoidable disruption of construction work within an operational hospital,” Mr Moloney said.

Mr Moloney thanked patients and staff again for their support while construction was undertaken.
