Phase 1 - Keep Safe and Operational

Phase 1 provided the initial investment of $100 million was allocated for works to reduce ongoing maintenance requirements and support future redevelopment opportunities by upgrading hospital infrastructure such as replacing electrical switchboards and power generators (Phase 1, 2012-2014).

It also included refurbishments in a number of clinical and support areas:

  • delivery of the Assessment and Planning Unit
  • establishment of the production kitchen at Cambridge
  • opening of the new ultrasound suites and modern equipment for the department of medical imaging
  • redevelopment of the department of critical care medicine and
  • opening the Wellington Centre outpatient clinics.
