More Patients in K-Block

Tasmania’s COVID-19 preparedness has received another boost with patients now accommodated in the second inpatient ward in K-Block.

Twenty-six inpatient beds moved into the new K9W General and Vascular Surgery Unit on Tuesday, 28 April 2020.

Patients can experience modern, light-filled rooms with views over the kunanyi/Mount Wellington.

K9E has one- and two-bed rooms including two negative pressure isolation rooms and a bariatric room.

Staff have contemporary amenity with larger write-up areas, meeting rooms, offices and more storage areas needed for clinical and patient care equipment.

Last week, K10E opened in the general and respiratory medicine precinct and patient admissions and departure services commenced on KG.

We are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation daily and will remain flexible in the use of health facilities to best meet the health needs of Tasmanians.

The sequence and opening of more wards and services over coming weeks will continue to be reviewed in light of Tasmania’s COVID-19 preparedness.
